Day 9, Wednesday
Well this morning wasn't super eventful either. At least it wasn't full of stuff that you can't see at home. This morning we went to a slaughter house and farm called Rabbit. They slaughtered chickens but also raised rabbits, cows, and pigs.
The chickens
We then ended up going to the village of Kutna Hora which was a most interesting place. It was so old school, with a beautiful cathedral that was started in the 1300's but not completely finished until 1905.
It really was beautiful and definitely outshone its sister church across the way that is famous for a very different reason: it's masterpieces inside. Before the black plague swept Europe over 30,000 people were buried in a mass grave, and in order to make way for the tainted bodies from the plague they had to dig up this mass grave. The nearly blind monk that headed the church in town decided to take the bones and decorate the inside of it, complete with a chandelier. It was absolutely BIZARRE.
Yes. REAL bones
We toured around the little village that was once larger than Prague due to its incredibly successful silver mines.
The little town. It had a very Italian feel
Then we headed back to campus where we bought crepes at cafe giraffe for a late dessert before turning in for the night (: it was a great day! I doubt I'll be able to post this weekend. Me, Kara, Tim, Andrew, Chelsae, Aubrey, and Rosalyn are going to ROMA! So excited (: our plane leaves at 8:40 tonight so I may be able to make my post for today (Thursday) and then let you guys know what's up some time later, but if you don't hear from me until Sunday it's fine. Our plane should be here at around 5:00 so I'll do my best to post to let everyone know I'm safe (: love you guys!
