Better Late than Never
It's currently Tuesday morning, 7:38AM and I'm sitting on the curb in Murighiol waiting for the bus to take us to Halmyris. After an eventful night last night, most of which is silly nonsense, I've discovered that what I've learned the most about on this trip is patience. But that's another story for another day...
This past weekend is my actual quest to tell, and it started on Friday evening, as we saw one of our comrades back off to the real world. Adam, our only Brit on the trip, had to return to studies in Reading, England, so we hosted a going away party for him, which ran quite late. You'd not be surprised, then, that several people didn't make it to the highlight of the weekend on Saturday morning - the Danube River Cruise.
There isn't much for me to say about it, to be honest, other than it was just what it is - a cruise along the Danube River, made to look at the wildlife that lives there and take a dip in the cool water if you'd like.

All in all, it was a nice morning on the lake/River and I can say that I boated the Danube. So that's certainly a nice new thing to cross off my bucket list.
The evening, after a long nap, brought with it a beautiful purple sunset on the water, for which the town Murighiol is named, as well as a party for the good Professor Zahriade.
We all chipped in and bought an abundance of veggies for a salad, as well as meat (the traditional mische and pork chops) and pasta! It was actually pretty delicious for a Romanian feast, and we ate while battling the mosquitoes, as usual. It was quite a nice night of fellowship and laughs, complete with a twice burnt (on accident!) chocolate cake. Shelly, Katie, Murph, and I finally called it quits around 1:30AM, which set us up for a nice, lazy Sunday.
All in all, Romania has been an experience I'll never forget, to be sure, but I will be quite glad when August 13 rolls around and I'm back on US soil. Until then, though, more traveling!
Be ready for weekend posts from Brasov, the home of Count Dracula's tales.
