My Seventh Parisian day!

This day was so much more leisurely than any we've had, as we weren't rushing around seeing all the sites. It was our first of two free days, so me and Paige definitely took advantage of it. But first thing, we did something I'm sure ALL of you have been waiting for that I haven't mentioned doing yet...we went to the top of the Eiffel Tower! That view...overpowering. It was absolutely an incredible sensation to experience that. I can completely understand the miracle of the structure, as it was built in 1888, when a free standing steel structure seemed impossible. But this is Paris, and nothing is impossible here. If something new and progressive can be accomplished anywhere, it's here, where the past surrounds you while you're simultaneously rushing towards the future. It really is the city of light.

The sheer size of this beast is impossible to convey. One of the most impressive characterisitics it has is simply walking towards it. It starts out so small and seems to never stop growing. Fascinating.
This is one of many pictures I took of the view. Les Invalides is the building with the golden dome that I've talked of incessantly. I'm pretty obsessed with it. Of course the fact that I look at it every night before I go to sleep might contribute to that...
I love this picture. Paris. Truly a city that has everything you could never need.
After leaving the top,  we walked back through the Champ de Mars, where so many moving things in French history has happened, from massacres to protests. Incredible. The view of the tower from here is one of ny favorites.

The rest of the day we spent roaming the Place de St. Michel, eating lunch, (the best pasta I've ever eaten in my entire life. No exagerrations, it really was)

writing in front of beautiful structures, and roaming through one of the most timeless places I've ever been, Shakespeare and company Bookstore. It was an old hangout for the Lost Generation of writers, like Hemingway and Fitzgerald and for a very good reason.

So beautiful, in such a beautiful place. St. Michel is definitely my favorite spot in the city. In fact, we sat outside Notre Dame and just looked around us at the people, writing in our journals, soaking everything in. It was wonderful.

The rest of the day was spent just trying to enjoy one of our last days here. I'm currently sitting in the bed, as I clearly didn't get to finish this yesterday, and looking out our window, thinking of the sad fact that tomorrow morning we leave. However, the sun is out, the day is gorgeous, and we have some wonderful plans that you'll find out about tonight. Have a lovely day! I know that I will 💛
